The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.

UNFPA’s support to the government and people of Liberia started in 1979. It is focused on strengthening the country’s capacity to implement comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services and rights to reduce maternal mortality, obstetric fistula, teenage pregnancy, female genital cutting, and gender-based violence; and building systems to ensure the availability of data that addresses population dynamics and its interlinkages with the needs of youth.

The support is aligned with Liberia’s development agenda and the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) and Liberia’s development priorities.
